Installation

Fireplace Fireglass Installation

  1. Make sure your gas is turned off at the Valve then secure the gas line with one wrench and use a second wrench to remove the cap. step1-fireplace
  2. Your Fireglass burner is comprised of a burner, two brass fittings, a flex line and damper clamp. step2-fireplace
  3. Use Pipe Joint Compound (Starfire Direct recommends Oatey brand sealer) to seal the threads on the gas line coming from the fireplace and on the burner. DO NOT USE SEALER ON THE COMPRESSION FITTINGS. step3-fireplace
  4.  Tighten the 90 degree brass fitting to the gas line in the fireplace and the straight brass fitting to the H Burner. step4-fireplace
  5. With the holes of the H Burner facing UP, connect the flex line to both brass fittings. DO NOT USE SEALER ON THESE COMPRESSION FITTINGS. step5-fireplace
  6. Your H Burner should be positioned at least 4-6” from the front of the fireplace as shown in the picture. step6-fireplace
  7. Install the Damper Clamp on the flue. This prevents the flue from being left closed on accident and allowing fireplace fumes to enter into your home. step7-fireplace
  8. Turn the gas on at your valve. Test your burner to make sure everything is installed correctly. To do this, use a long lighter, place the flame on the burner and slowly turn on the gas. step8-10-fireplace
  9. Once your connections are tested and your flame is acceptable, pour your fireglass on the burner. If you followed these steps accurately, you should only have need for 2-4” of fireglass which makes your fireplace look absolutely stunning!
 10. Finally, simply light your newly renovated fireplace with your long lighter as you did in step 8. You can adjust your flame by turning your on/off valve in either direction. Now sit back and enjoy your new fireplace! To turn off, just adjust your on/off valve until the flame is off and make sure it is nice and tight. Enjoy!
