Firepit Fireglass Installation. |

Make sure ½” gas stub is only 3” from the surface of the
firepit and the gas is turned off. |

Fill firepit with gravel. Make sure to allow for proper
drainage. |

Cut galvanized mesh screen (available at most hardware stores)
to fit in your firepit. This mesh acts as a separator from the
gravel fill and fireglass. |

Cut a hole around your ½” gas stub to allow the firering
to screw on. |

Use Pipe Joint Compound (Starfire Direct recommends Oatey
brand sealer) to seal the threads and hand tighten the firering
with the holes of the firering facing UP. The firering should
be practically resting on the mesh screen leaving only 2-3”
of space between the mesh and the top of your firepit. |

Turn the gas on at your valve. Test your burner to make sure
everything is installed correctly. To do this, use a long lighter,
place the flame on the burner and slowly turn on the gas. |

Once your connections are tested and your flame is acceptable,
pour your fireglass on the burner. If you followed these steps
accurately, you should only have need for 2-3” of fireglass
which a) keeps your cost down and b) makes your firepit look
absolutely stunning! |

Finally, simply light your newly renovated firepit with your
long lighter as you did in step 6. You can adjust your flame
by turning your on/off valve in either direction. Now sit back
and enjoy your new firepit! To turn off, just adjust your on/off
valve until the flame is off and make sure it is nice and tight.
